People the world over are waiting for Android 5.0
Lollipop to land on their devices, and we’re here to keep you up to date
with each and every one of them. Sony has already confirmed that the
Xperia Z3 will get the update at the ”beginning” of 2015. We now know
that February is that beginning. See below for more details on the Sony
Xperia Z3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
The latest news on the Lollipop update for the Z3 is that
Vodafone Australia
is about to start testing of their firmware, meaning that it should
only be a few more weeks until the final OTA rollout begins. This also
bodes well for other Z3 owners globally.

You may recall that back in December the
official Sony Xperia twitter channel tweeted
to say that the “core” Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series would be
receiving the Android Lollipop update at the “beginning of 2015”. It
turns out that the beginning of 2015 for Sony’s flagship is in February,
as Sony Electronics COO Michael Fasulo took to the stage at CES
recently to reveal that this is when Lollipop will land on the Xperia
Z3.
@SamTomelleri We’ll start the upgrade at beginning of 2015 for the core Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series.

We still don’t know when the other devices in the range will be
receiving the update, or whether this the upgrade will be to Android 5.0
or Android 5.0.1. If it’s arriving to the main Sony flagship in
February, however, the others will certainly follow soon after. With
Vodafone in Australia already testing, things seem to be right on track.
If you simply can’t wait for the official release of Android 5.0 on the Xperia Z3, head over to the
XDA Developers forum
and get up to speed with what the folks over there are working on.
Otherwise, Sony has stated that you will be waiting until the beginning
of 2015 for the OTA Lollipop update on the Xperia Z3 and Z2 range.
Are you going to download the early Lollipop build for the Xperia Z3? Or wait for the official OTA Android Lollipop update?
